Power Generation Service Supervisor job

American Diesel Outfitters LLC® is actively recruiting a Power Generation Service Supervisor for a premier client in the power generation and diesel generator service industry.

This leadership role oversees daily operations for a generator service department, managing service technicians responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of commercial and industrial power generation equipment. The Service Supervisor ensures safe operations, efficient scheduling, and high-quality service delivery while meeting customer expectations and departmental performance goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the power generation service department including field service and shop operations.
  • Assign and schedule Service Technicians based on technical skill level, job priority, and customer requirements.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to technicians performing generator maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Monitor technician productivity, labor utilization, job costing, and service department performance.
  • Ensure required tools, parts, and materials are available to complete generator service work efficiently.
  • Review work orders and completed service jobs to ensure quality standards and safety procedures are met.
  • Promote a safe and organized work environment aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist management and service advisors with technical troubleshooting and customer service issues.
  • Evaluate technician performance and establish productivity expectations.
  • Support warranty service documentation and manufacturer authorization when required.
  • Assist in defining scope of work and preparing service repair estimates.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage generator service technicians.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience supervising technical service teams.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot operational challenges within generator service operations.
  • Excellent communication skills with technicians, customers, and management.
  • Customer-focused approach while maintaining company policies and safety standards.
  • Ability to collaborate with employees across multiple departments.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3–7 years of experience in power generation service, diesel engines, generator maintenance, or industrial equipment service.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous Service Supervisor or Lead Technician experience required.
  • Hands-on experience working with commercial or industrial generator systems strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to use laptop computers, diagnostic software, and generator diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with service management systems and digital work orders.
