Core Maintenance & Fleet Focus
Class 7 & Class 8 Trucks
Comprehensive maintenance, diagnostic oversight, and repair workflows for heavy commercial trucks and integrated trailers.
Advanced Systems & Diagnostics
Expert-level troubleshooting across diesel engines, air brake systems, complex electrical networks, and aftertreatment systems.
Safety & Compliance Standards
Enforcement of strict preventive maintenance schedules, DOT inspection requirements, and workshop safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate daily shop workflow, repair assignments, and technician priorities.
- Supervise, support, and provide technical guidance to diesel technicians and shop personnel.
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, air brake, aftertreatment, and engine-related issues.
- Assist with hands-on repairs and advanced troubleshooting as needed.
- Review repair orders and completed work for accuracy, quality, safety, and completeness.
- Ensure preventive maintenance inspections and repairs comply with company and regulatory standards.
- Monitor equipment downtime and help prioritize repairs based on active operational needs.
- Coordinate parts ordering, outside repairs, vendor services, and equipment availability.
- Maintain accurate shop records, repair documentation, and maintenance logs.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure all shop policies and procedures are strictly followed.
- Maintain an organized, productive, and professional shop environment and assist with technician training.
Candidate Qualifications & Technical Requirements
- Prior experience repairing and maintaining Class 7 and Class 8 commercial trucks required.
- Previous shop leadership, lead technician, or foreman experience strongly preferred.
- Strong diesel diagnostic and troubleshooting ability with familiarity in diagnostic software.
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, electrical systems, suspension, steering, HVAC, and aftertreatment.
- Familiarity with DOT inspection standards and commercial vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Proven ability to organize workflow, prioritize repairs, and effectively direct technicians.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (CDL preferred but not required).
- Physical capability to perform essential functions, including lifting up to 75 pounds and working around/underneath commercial vehicles.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
